Growing up in the 60s in Chicago was a blast, we actually had toys that we played with rather than having the toys just entertain us. Only a few had batteries... and they were D cells. HA! Like I mentioned, I grew up in Chicago and vividly remember the big orange Cuddly Dudley. I remember that he was originally a Tribune Company promotion and was a regular skit on Ray Rayner, but I also remember a television commercial that would air around Christmas with the house (set) decorated for Christmas. The commercial showed Cuddly Dudley on some stairs and a kid or two hugging him at the bottom. I've searched and searched and can't find a copy of the television commercial. I don't know which Chicago broadcasting station aired it; it could have been one or many. I’m hoping that someone may know where to find it or if anyone has found it before.

We all ate lunch meat as a kid, or at least I think we all did. My favorite was "Olive Loaf".

This is a frame from a 1964 Bonanza View Master set. The Cartwrights thought it would be funny for all of them to "flip the bird" during this one shot.

It was overlooked and went out into production for families everywhere to enjoy. It always brings a smile to my face.

Does anyone know more about this story?

I cannot find any information about an old vinyl record (can't remember if it was a 7" or LP) with a bunch of Halloween sound effects. I know we would listen to it in school (so it existed around the late 1970s and early '80s).

I want to hear it again just for the sound of Martians eating the bones of an astronaut. That always freaked me out the most.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Any vinyl hounds that could track it down? MP3s? As far as I can remember it is not a Disney produced record.

It is a Disney produced record, called "Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House." Haunted Dimensions has great pictures of the jacket, liner notes...

Just found this at a garage sale and not sure of the name of this toy and what it did.

Nice garage sale find!

That's "Clancy the Great" from 1963 and made by the Ideal Toy Company. Looks like yours is missing his hat. The way it worked was you would put a coin in Clancy's hat in hand and he'll skate towards you, or you could hold...
